Article About Entertaiment

A pleasant or agreeable occupation for the mind. Something affording pleasure, diversion, or amusement: a ball; a play; a concert. The daily crossword puzzle provides entertainment for many. The man whose work it is to amuse people who attend shows is an entertainer.

From Middle English entente, from Late Latin intertenere, from Latin (inter) “among” + tenere “to hold” (from PIE root *ten- “to stretch”), with the sense of “to maintain, keep up, support.” The modern meaning is more strongly associated with amusement.

Entertainment takes many forms today and can be adapted for an individual or group of any size, from a personal selection from the huge array of pre-recorded entertainment available; to parties adapted for a couple of people; to performances for thousands. Many of the most familiar forms of entertainment hit on points the human brain was evolved to deeply react to, such as backstabbing or murder. Entertaiment can often take you to a euphoric state, where the time goes by so fast that you wish it would never end, and just continue.
