What is Entertaiment?
Entertaiment is any activity that provides pleasure, diversion or amusement: the enjoyment of a play, concert or film; the pursuit of hobbies such as gardening or solving crossword puzzles; and the hospitable provision of food and drink to guests. It can be experienced at any level of formality from a private entertainment chosen by an individual for their own enjoyment to an elaborately staged ball for royalty or a political or religious festival. Entertainments may also have a more serious purpose such as preparing children for adulthood through the role playing of ‘dolls’ or group games or by enabling them to see that life is not all about work and money. The word is often abbreviated to entmt on fliers and in industry news publications where space is limited.
