Article on Entertaiment
From Middle English entretenement, from Old French entretenement; see entertain. Anything that gives pleasure, amuses, or is diverting. Entertainment stimulates the brain to release seratonin and dopamine which is good for the body. It is important to remember that many forms of entertainment have a deeper meaning or purpose. This can be the case with a ritual, party, non secular pageant or even satire.
Oliver and Barstsch (2010) define entertainment as a consumer activity that is understood objectively, encompasses communication between text and audience, provides an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist and is passive in form.
